PS5 Pro’s performance and power balance surprises!

Sony’s next-generation PlayStation 5 Pro has been tested, this time with powerful games. According to the new test results, the PS5 Pro manages to increase performance by 30% while keeping energy consumption at standard PS5 levels. So which games were tested? Renowned tech platform Digital Foundry tested the PS5 Pro with popular games like Elden Ring, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and F1 24. The results proved that the PS5 Pro is a monster in terms of graphics and performance. Particularly in the Elden Ring test, the Pro model achieved a frame rate of 52 FPS while consuming only 214 watts of power.

In the same test, the PS5 Slim was at 40 FPS, while the standard PS5 was at 37 FPS. Moreover, the energy consumption of the Slim and Pro models was almost identical. So, we can say that PS5 Pro offers more with the same power. Another more remarkable test was conducted on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This game was locked to 60 FPS on all three models, so the power consumption was surprising.

PS5 Pro technical details revealed!

Leaks about the highly anticipated PS5 Pro have turned out to be true. The device's 8-core Zen 2 CPU and 16 GB GDDR6 memory specifications have been confirmed.

Although the Pro model consumed 232 watts, it consumed only 6% more power than the Slim model and 11% more than the standard PS5. It’s impressive that a console with such a powerful graphics processor is so much more efficient than expected. But how is this possible?

Actually, we can attribute the PS5 Pro’s success to the hardware power behind it. The console comes with an 8-core Zen 2 CPU and a 16.7 TFLOP RDNA GPU. Compared to the standard PS5’s 10.28 TFLOP GPU, the Pro model’s graphics capabilities make a significant leap forward. The memory bandwidth of the Pro model has also been increased to an impressive 576 GB/s.
